Hello students!
Do you know what a "time capsule" is? It's a kind of sealed container with "important" artifacts or things inside. People usually put things inside of the capsule that they think are important for future people to find in order to learn about life in the past.
For example: You fill a time capsule with important artifacts from today's world, and then you bury it in the ground. In 1000 years, someone finds it and looks inside. What would the things inside of the capsule "say" or "tell" that person about you, your country, or life on earth at that time when the capsule was buried in 2011?
So, your assignment for Blog #6 is to describe what you would put into a time capsule so that people opening the capsule 1000 years from now could understand life in 2011. Include 6 (or more) items that you think would be the most important to include in the time capsule. Explain why you think each item is important. Remember, you want the future people to have a really good understanding about either your life, your country, or the world in 2011.

My name is Nada I’m from Saudi Arabia which is a country in the Middle East. I left my country on JUN 17 2010. And I’m living in U.S.A because I want to get MA in computer science. I want to tell the person who found my “time capsule” about many things. The first is personal that is relating to my family. I love my mother too much. She suffered terrible problem that make she tired, and I couldn’t imagine that I will leave her whatever, but I have to leave her to complete my education, as her dream. Also, I love my father too much because he provides a good life for me, and he tries to suppose me to do everything I want. Because of that, I like you to oblige them by praying for God to forgive them sins, and make them enter the Gardens. Second, I will tell you about a fact that the Arab land will be changed to meadows and rivers. That change is impossible now because the Arab land is a desert! I believe in that because our prophet Mohammed, peace is upon him, had said that long time ago. Third, I will tell you about one bad experience that I had before. Once day when I was child, a hen appeared into my face suddenly in our farm. And it made me quite scary. Then I decided to punish it .so I took its egg to boil it in front of her mother eyes ^_^ , which is the hen !! While I did that, I was mumbling, “ That what you deserve. I will harm your egg !” Later, I observed that there is a big fire that is caused by me :) . I entered the home silently , went to bed , and slept. When I got up, I heard my mother talk about a huge fire happened in the morning, and she wondered how it happened!! I acted as an innocent ^_* and said, “ I was sleeping mam .” In fact, they have not known yet who made the fire . :)

ReplyDeleteIt's a kind of difficulty for me to be remember in future, because I don't wanna this, like i said, I'm a terrible example. If I want save things to be remember, I will save this things.
1 - A Picture of Myself.
2 - Money
3 - A Cigarette Box
4 - A Bottle of Beer
5 - A Handgun
6 - A message for the future.
Why I choose this things?
I Choose this things for many reasons. First off all a picture of myself will describe for the future archaeologists who I was in the past, and who I Like.
The Money, Cigarettes, the Beer, and the Handgun will tell for the archaeologists what was my lifestyle. What were the things that I liked in the past, and I am Trying to teach for the future archaeologists what is the type of my personality.
The last thing that I will save is a message for the future. In this message i will try to explain what was our world and the persons who lived here. What was the trouble, the bad and the bad things. I will finish my message with this sentence. "Please learn our mistakes and try to not to the same in the future!"

I think first, I will put my photo picture inside. No matter is birthday or all festival with somebody, I can put it in the time capsule. second, I put my some money inside. I think the world will end so I can save some people in some day. Third, I can put some foods or seeds. Because the end of the world, I can grow some foods to solve some people in some day. Fourth, maybe I will put a letter and write some advices to tell the future world people. Fifth, I put my favorite foods inside, like stinky tofu, apples and water. I can change foods twice a week :) Sixth, I can put my favorite comic book " One Piece". I will be old someday, I don't want to always sleep on chair and boring to watch TV.

ReplyDeleteI think I will put a camera, a notebook, a DVD, a lunch box, a English text book, and a novel.
ReplyDeleteFirst,I'll put the camera that because it has a lot of photos in it.
Second, a notebook which I put in it has many diaries I wrote in it.
Third, a DVD has been recorded my whole life in it.
Fourth, a lunch box can help me remind my mother.
Fifth, a English text book which I took a lot of notes in it. It can helps you to learn English.
Sixth, I'll put my favorite novel in it so I can share my interest with you.

This is a beautiful island. There are many delicious food, beautiful place and people are friendly. Also, I will put my all clothes and bag in it because i am very cherish my clothes. I hope they can cherish as me. Then, I will put our newspaper in it. I want they can know our news and what important events we happened. I think it became a truck not a capsule.One will put cloths and other will put cheers and beers stuff and in top of that one will put a gun !!! In that case let us call it our Space ship in the twalight zone or perhaps we might launch our so called "Capsules" via a submarine immersed in Bermuda Triangle !!.I think a Capsule as large as such will be seen and easily discovered. By now feel free to ship whatever you want to the unkown future zone since this submarine has a counter and screen in the way that you can chose your flight and destinay and in top of that arrival time.Enjoy !

The things I want to leave in my time capsule are pictures, phone, diaries, textbooks, accessories and messages.
Basically, I want to put something what I stand for or what I believe. Pictures and phone represent people who support me, if I didn't meet them, I'm not me. People made me, for sure, I choose or decide my life, but others opinion or suggestion have various impacts on me.
The diaries and textbook show what I learned or thought. Thinking, learning or studying give me new information, ideas and thought for living.
Accessories are my belief or heart. You know that I always wear some bracelets and necklace. These include my soul or hope and I believe these protect me and give me power.
Message is for future. I hope that people who read this message would feel or know something, and that it affect someone's life.

Although you may not be able to understand, I have never thought of my family, I didn't mind how my family felt when they knew what I did wrong thing or something like that. Before I came here, I had lived in my boyfriend's house even though I promised with my mom that I would go home after school. It means I always broke the promise with my mom. I did something what I wanted to do even if my family disappointed or shocked because this is my life, my way.
However, my thought was changed by talking with someone from another country because when they tell me about their family, everyone said "I appreciate my family everyday. I love my family very much."
I noticed the importance of my family and thought I must care about my family and help them anytime.

ReplyDeleteI agree strongly with your last sentence of your message for future. People are unconscious of doing some mistakes or, nevertheless, some people notice these mistakes, they can't insist them in public and correct them such as wars.

If I make time capsule, I will put in pictures, letter, notebooks, wine, my hair, and usb.
1. Pictures
pictures are just my time. No body can go back my time even technology become high but pictures can show my feelings, friends, family, and so on.
2. letter
I will write about me :D and I want to write my feel for world. It will be what I really want to change this world. If future people read my letter, they can know what was citizen's feeling.
3.notebooks
Notebooks are my life! I have a notebook everyday. I wrote many things in it, such as learning, graffiti, and drawing :D People will know how beautiful writing I did! just kidding. lol I think after 1000 years, people don't use to write by them self. They use to write by technological things. If they saw my notebooks, maybe they will want to write by them selves. haha Writing is one of important things in my life :D
4.Wine
I just wonder if I can drink well aged wine.
5.My hair
My hair can show what did I eat, where did I live, and what did I do (smoke or drag), so it is a easy to know what early people ate, if I put hair in the time capsule.
6.USB
I can put my voice, pictures, movies, music and anything in usb, so I will put many things :D Mainly, I will record my family and friends' video. To show how happy life I was.

Maybe the first thing that i'll put is a disk with all kinds of music. From one kind one song. I think it might be interesting for people and it will save some of my favorites songs. Music could show many aspects of our world and I think everybody loves music. It affects on our feelings
I think I put there also a letter where I write about 'how i see the future in hundreds years'. It should makes people in future laugh. And maybe write some dates of the world's ending because it also could be funny :\
If this capsule can save food I'll put there sushi :) I think that it is kind of food that must be alive forever.
For people in future might be interesting our wear. And maybe underwear) I'll put there dress and maybe socks just for museum)
The next thing is the ball for playing basketball. I'm proud of bascketball, mostly of some kinds of street games. And if people in future won't play in this games I think I must force them to do it)
And the last, just to show myself as a patriot, will be the toy looks like some of heroes from Russian cartoons and it will be with text 'With love from Russia'.
But I think that people in future won't be interested in all of this things)

ReplyDeleteEven if I don't think the humanity will be here in 1000 years, I'd like to put a lot of things in the time capsule, to tell them something about their history and how we live in this particular period. First of all I'd put into the time capsule a newspaper of the day I set up everything, an encyclopedia and a letter by me asking for a better future and asking to learn by our mistakes. Now the last three objects will be somethings personal for let them know something about who have made the capsule. I'll put some photos of me and my family, all the places I've been and all the people I've met. I'd put a diary of my life, of my hopes and of my thoughts. The last thing I'll put is one of my favorite shirt, with my name written on it, as a gift for them. That's really everything I feel I should put into a time capsule !
Saleh, your idea about putting flags interesting, but I think that for people in future might be difficult to understand what this flags mean. Maybe for them it will be only some kind of pictures and they will be confused)

Just showing 'this what we drank, this smokes and from this killed', good collection of artefacts. It perefectly shows main aspects of our life. I think you could add condoms and syringe)
